Construction

The Ohio Department of Transportation is conducting a major construction project that directly impacts visitors to the Municipal Court, particularly those parking in the garages.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

Construction around the Franklin County Government Complex is expected to continue for several years due to projects led by the City of Columbus, Franklin County, and ODOT. ODOT is widening the High Street Bridge over I-70 and has traffic on High Street limited to one lane in each direction.

In addition, effective the week of April 6, 2026:
The City of Columbus will fence off the James A. Karnes Building at 410 S. High St. and the Dorrian Commons at the corner of High and Mound Streets and then demolish the Karnes building, making way for construction of a new Franklin County Municipal Courthouse on High Street between Mound and Fulton Streets later this year.

Additional changes as part of this project include:

SIDEWALK CLOSURES

o East side of High Street in front of the Dorrian Commons and James A. Karnes building, and Fulton Street, between High Street and the Fulton Street parking garage.

LANE RESTRICTIONS

o Rush hour restrictions for turning left from S. High Street to Fulton Street are expected in the coming weeks.

PARKING GARAGE CHANGES

o The Fulton Street Parking Garage remains open to the public.
o Pedestrians walking out of the Fulton Street garage will be directed to exit onto Mound Street.
o One of two pay toll booths used in exiting the Fulton Street garage will close to allow for extra walkway space for pedestrian traffic.
o Signage is being added, allowing motorists to exit the garage onto Fulton Street, which was previously only for Franklin County employees. A kiosk is being added to the Fulton Street garage exit, so daily parkers may pay by credit card or use the pay-on-foot machine inside the garage.

We will continue to provide updates as that information is made available so that visitors to the Franklin County Common Pleas Court and the Common Pleas Clerk, Franklin County Domestic Relations and Juvenile Court, Franklin County Municipal Court and the Municipal Clerk, the Franklin County Probate Court, the 10th District Court of Appeals, the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office, the City Attorney Offices, and other government offices can stay informed about these various projects.
